I think my patient needs sedation”…

A visit to the dentist is not necessarily something that some patients really look forward to. In fact, while most patients have no trouble sitting in the dental chair there is a subset of individuals who are very anxious about seeing the dentist. This lecture will cover what you can offer to your patients who may have difficulty accessing dental care due to their medical conditions or anxiety. It will cover some of the commonly used medications for minimal sedation, including the pharmacology and safe administration of these medications. There will also be a discussion concerning the role of local anesthesia, patient selection, and current law pertaining to the provision of sedation.
