To WLADS Members and Friends,

Thank you all for resilience during this trying time in our region, our state, our country and our world. As we receive updates and learn of new resources, we will continue to share them with you.

The Executive Committee has rescheduled all in-person events in March and most April events. We are taking everything day by day, but still plan to have a quality schedule of activities for our members. To that end our Web site has the most update to date information on CEs and we hope that we will have a fun Summer together including our annual outings to a Dodgers game and the Hollywood Bowl. We are still taking reservations for the CE cruise in October and as of right now, we rescheduled our annual golf tournament to Saturday, November 7.

The ADA’s COVID-19 information page can be found here and they are hosting an on-demand webinar on Friday, March 20 with the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention. You can register for the free webinar here.

The County of Los Angeles Public Health department has issued guidance during this time of increased COVID-19 spread. The details as well as Los Angeles County-specific information can be found on their Web site.

CalChamber Advocacy created COVID-19: Top Resources for Employers.

Today, the Senate approved the coronavirus relief bill providing sick pay and some unemployment benefits. As full details emerge, we will share them.

Last night, the CDA distributed an e-mail, “What ‘shelter-in-place’ means for dentists.“ We encourage you to stay up to date with CDA news. As a reminder, CDA’s guidance is intended to help “flatten the curve” of new coronavirus infections and is aligned with the most recent state and federal guidance, including Gov. Gavin Newsom’s recommendation that seniors age 65 and older and individuals with heart or lung disease self-isolate at home for 14 days. The governor on March 15 also strengthened social-distancing practices, asking night clubs in the state to close and restaurants and breweries to limit their service to delivery and take-out.

This is a time for everyone to come together, so please, reach out if you need to. If you have questions related to the COVID-19 virus, ideas that you feel others may find useful or other comments, we want to hear from you. Please send e-mails to staff@westernlads.org or call the office at 310-349-2199. If we do not have the answer to your question, we will work to find it and provide the proper resource. Starting tomorrow, the WLADS office staff will be remote, but they have full access to phones, e-mails, etc. and are conducting business as usual.

If you haven’t already done so, we kindly ask that you fill out this survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/M3L5LCQ) to let us know if you are open and which procedures (if any) you are doing. This information is for WLADS office staff only and will be used as a resource only.

Thank you and stay safe,
David Downs, DDS
