CDA Shares Steps to Prepare for Re-Opening and More WLADS News – April 21, 2020

Hello WLADS,

We started this week with positive news from California and the CDA outlining steps to re-open the state and our dental offices. While there is still a ways to go, this information sheds a light on what we can all to do help the process.

Many of us have applied for the PPP and EIDL loans as well as other funding. As a Society, we think it would be helpful to find out how many have applied and who received funding. All of the information is confidential, we are simply looking to find out how the Federal funds have been distributed. Here is a link to a survey where you can answer a few short questions: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Y3759WM

While we all have a little extra time on our hands, please consider getting more involved with WLADS. Later in the year, we will hold our annual elections. The current list of officers and committees can be found here. If you would like to learn more about potential openings or are interested in joining the board of directors or a committee, please let us know.

Know that your WLADS board and staff are doing their best to provide you with information via e-blasts and social media posts as well as links to pertinent sites and webinars to help you during this period. If you have questions or need anything, please let us know.

Flatten the curve and just know that we will all get through this together.

Sincerely,
David Downs, DDS
WLADS Board President

– CDA call for letters to congress: Congress is currently negotiating a fourth coronavirus relief package, targeted at expanding the assistance to small businesses and health care providers included in the third package, the CARES Act. CDA is asking members to contact their member of Congress and urge them to provide additional funding for Small Business Administration loans (especially the Paycheck Protection Program) so that more small-business owners can receive SBA relief funds.

HOW HAS COVID-19 IMPACTED YOU?
Last week we profiled WLADS member Dr. Glen Tistaert – how his family survived Polio and the Great Depression and created three generations of dentists in Southern California. Our goal is to share more member stories and we want to hear from you. If you are interested, please reply to this e-mail to share your experience with the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on you professionally and personally.

CDA Practice Support analysts and TDIC Risk Management analysts continue to field thousands of calls from members who are concerned about their practices, employees and patients’ care.

A fellow WLADS member shared information about Kabateck, Brown & Kellner (Los Angeles), a national law firm processing Business Interruption claims from commercial insurance carriers. We have been told that they are highly recommended and representing all businesses. You can review their FAQ here. This is a resource and WLADS has no affiliation with the law firm.
